Now official, we congratulate our team rider Rimas Kinka for setting the new world record of the longest kitesurfing journey, traveling 446 nautical miles (826 km; 513 statute miles) from Jacksonville to Key West (Miami, USA), from February 5 to 8, 2015.
Rimas hopes to use his achievement to raise awareness of ocean pollution. His motto is Pure Ocean: No Plastic, It’s Fantastic. “Spending a lot of time on the ocean, I notice how drastically plastic pollution has increased,” he says. “I’ve talked to kitesurfers around the world, and they tell me it’s the same in every country.”
