The base price given above is for the Typhoon frame (+ leash retention system) with single vision fixed tint (standard) NXT lenses with hydrophobic, oleophobic and anti-reflection coatings.

Additional lens options such as polarised or photochromic lenses, mirror coating or anti-fog coating incur additional costs. These additional costs are recorded in the ‘options amount’ subtotal at the end of the order form.

The fabrication time for RX lenses is 3 weeks.

  • PRESCRIPTION LENSES

    Your most recent eye examination should not be more than 2 years old. If your last eye examination was more than 2 years ago, we advise that you obtain an up-to-date prescription prior to purchasing your RX watershades. 

    Single Vision prescriptions are for people who have trouble seeing either near OR far. Varifocal or progressive prescriptions are for people who have trouble seeing both near AND far. Our varifocal lenses have no visible line on the surface of the lens.

    All lenses for Surge and Typhoon are by NXT™ and have anti-reflective, anti-scratch, hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings as standard.

    Standard lenses are non-polarized with a fixed tint of either Smoke or Brown. There are mirror coating options for each.

    Our QuickStep Photochromic lenses darken on exposure to visible light. A versatile and seamless solution for changing light conditions, as the QuickStep adaption provides optimum vision and comfort in step with the environment around you.

    NOTE: For photochromic lenses, we do not offer mirror coatings. See item descriptions for the respective transmission rates.

    Our POLAR-RX (polarised) lenses are 'screen friendly'. There are two base lens colours available - Smoke or Brown, each of which has mirror coating options.

    Our state-of-the-art QuickStep POLAR-RX (Polarised + Photochromic) lenses not only darken automatically when exposed to sunlight but also progressively polarise. Partial polarisation in low light progressively adapts to full polarisation in bright outdoor light. 

    NOTE: Mirror coatings are not available for QuickStep POLAR-RX lenses.

    NOTE ON VARIFOCAL LENSES

    For Varifocals, once you have filled out the RX form below and made payment, we will send you a sample frame in the post. When you receive this, you will need to attend your opticians with the sample frame to obtain an accurate reading for your pupil height (PH). This reading is essential to ensure that your varifocal lenses are calibrated exactly to your needs. As soon as we have the 'PH' reading, we can start producing your lenses. The sample frames can be returned to us after you have visited your optician.

    RIGHT EYE (OD)

    The sphere (SPH) indicates the strength of lens required to correct your focus. A positive value corrects long-sightedness (hyperopia), whereas  a negative value corrects short sightedness (myopia). We can accommodate SPH readings of (+5) to (-8).

    The CYL (cylinder) value denotes the strength of the astigmatism. Astigmatism means that the eye has difficulty focusing at certain angles. If you have a cylinder value, then you will also have an Axis value. If your prescription shows "DS", this means that you do not have an astigmatism, and you should leave the field blank.

    The Axis is the angle of the astigmatism correction and specifies where the astigmatism is on your eye. The measurement is in Degrees. The values range between 0 and 180. If you have a "Cylinder" value, then you MUST also have an Axis value. Please add it here or leave blank if you have no Axis reading.

    ADD is the extra magnification required to help see objects near to you and is required only for varifocal lenses. Please ignore for single vision lenses.
